As I reflect on my many years in commercial real estate, I realize how far we have advanced technologically. I look back to the early 80’s, and I clearly remember the excitement when the fax machine became available to the masses and how it helped save us time and increased our productivity. I also remember Friday mornings; it was the day we would receive the newly published AIR properties for the week. Most of us knew the UPS person by name, and many of us either met him as he left the warehouse or chased him down on his route to be the first to view the week’s new properties.

Even then, AIR was not only providing us with accurate and timely information, but it gave us the opportunity to be successful because of the access to data for ALL of us, not just some of us.

Looking forward, 2008 may be a very challenging year. With the change in the market dynamics, information and knowledge will continue to be critical as we all attempt to maintain our competitive edge. AIR will be focusing on the following key objectives to insure you have the most up-to-date information:

• The implementation of the new changes to the CDX format and its continual enhancement throughout the year.

• The continual monitoring of the accuracy and timeliness of our data.

• The official release of the “Office” data to the entire office brokerage community.

• The improvement of the functionality of the WIN-AIR forms.

We now have a larger, more diverse Board of Directors than ever before which gives us a better cross section of our membership; this will ultimately help us serve you more effectively.

Remembering the 80’s and the fact AIR was the industry leader as a data service provider, it is my goal to continue to keep AIR as the preeminent provider for the future. The continuation of this success can only be achieved through the selfless contributions of our membership. Therefore, I encourage all of you to consider participating on the Board of Directors for AIR at some point in your career.
